Belts & Hoses
Timing belts and serpentine belts are the most common types of belts in trucks.
A timing belt (also referred to as the camshaft drive belt or the Gilmer belt) is a notched belt that allows the crankshaft to turn the camshaft. Failure of the timing belt would lead to failure of the engine. A loose timing belt could lead to its slipping. When slipped, valves will open at the wrong time putting them at the risk of being struck by the pistons. To avoid this, have your timing belts inspected and serviced regularly.
A drive belt transfers power from the engine to the front mounted accessories such as the cooling fan, power steering pump, air injection pump, the air conditioning compressor and more. Failure of the drive belt means that all the engine accessories it's powering will stop working leading to overheating of the engine. To prevent this from happening, have the belt regularly checked for wear, cracks and stripping.
Hoses (or coolant hoses) are the heater and radiator hoses (upper and lower). The hoses facilitate the flow of coolant between the radiator, engine, and heating block. Old and worn out hoses can easily burst resulting in an overheated engine. To prevent this from happening, have the hoses inspected for cracks.
For belts and hoses maintenance and replacement services, visit Affordable Auto and Truck Repair in Clearwater, FL 33762 today. Remember, working belts and hoses will lead to a properly working engine.
Cooling System
Although a truck's engine operates most efficiently at high temperatures, the surplus heat produced during combustion can damage engine parts. To keep the engine safe from the surplus heat, trucks come with a cooling system. The system helps the engine maintain the required temperature and release any surplus heat to the environment.
The cooling system is made up of various parts that work harmoniously. These parts are the radiator, fan, pump, pressure cap, hoses, thermostat, and overflow tank. Failure of any of the parts will result in a poorly functioning cooling system.
To have a properly working cooling system (and thus a healthy engine), consider having periodic servicing of the parts that make up the system. At Affordable Auto and Truck Repair, we can service or replace (if necessary) radiators, fans, water pumps, hoses, thermostats and pressure caps.
Engine
This is where your truck's combustion of fuel occurs. The ignition, which takes place in a combustion chamber, provides force to the pistons, turbine blades, or a nozzle. The engine provides power that drives your truck. With a poorly operating engine, you will have a poor performing truck. Visit Affordable Auto and Truck Repair in Clearwater, FL 33762 today, to have all your engine needs addressed. At Affordable Auto and Truck Repair, we have engine specialists who will make sure you get the most from your truck's engine.
Water Pumps
A water pump is a vital part of your truck cooling system. A water pump is a centrifugal pump that circulates fluid whenever the engine is running. A belt connected to the engine's crankshaft drives the pump. Water pumps have vanes that fling the fluid to the outside of the pump (using centrifugal force) where it can enter the internal combustion engine. After going through the engine and the cylinder head, the fluid flows back to the water pump.
If the water pump develops a leak or the hub becomes loose and noisy, you need to have it replaced. Faulty water pumps will lead to poor cooling of the internal combustion engine. To have faulty water pumps repaired or replaced, call 727-329-8728 or visit Affordable Auto and Truck Repair today.

what our customers say
We had driven down for several weeks from our home in NC in our Ford F-150 truck. Around noon on the Friday before labor day we got in the truck to run some errands and discovered the front passenger door would not latch when closed, the door just swung freely. We called every local Ford dealer only to be told that we could drop off the truck and they "might" be able to diagnose the problem by Tuesday or Wednesday - one said it would be 3 weeks before they could see us despite this obviously being a significant safety issue. We then called Affordable Auto Care - Troy was honest and said if we dropped it off, he would try to get it in that afternoon but couldn't promise as they were very busy. He committed that it would be looked at by Monday (Labor Day) and if possible fixed that day, but that would depend on what parts might be needed and if he could get them on Labor Day. Long story short, a part that he could only get from Ford was needed and they were closed on Monday. Troy got the part first thing Tuesday morning and had our door fixed by noon and all a very reasonable price. Throughout, Troy was calling to keep us updated on the issue, on the need to wait for the Ford to open to get the part. He even had someone waiting at Ford before they opened to get the part as fast as possible. All in all, excellent communication, superior service, and we had our truck fixed before any of the Ford dealers would have even seen it. We highly recommend bringing all of your auto/truck repair needs to Affordable Auto Care!
I brought in my newly purchased Nissan Leaf with an ABS light on. Not only did they diagnose the issue for FREE, but Sunny (sp) also spent time explaining the issues and provided helpful recommendations to get the necessary work completed. Honest, knowledgeable and they really do go the extra mile to make sure you get the best outcome, even if it's not at their shop. Thank you to the team for your help!
I first went to this shop when I had a check engine light on. Since then I have gone back numerous occasions when other things that I needed done on my car. It's so wonderful to find a shop that isn't out there to just take your money, but try to find a solution without digging a huge hole in your wallet! They don't just fix the problem but they listen to you and pay attention to what you have to say. Which is huge for me! They are fast, but efficient, friendly, knowledgeable, and definitely reasonable with Prices. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who is looking! Thanks for everything!
